Histon Football Club is delighted to announce that Owen Howell has joined its Board of Directors.

Owen has been part of the Cambridge community all his life, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father as owner of Campkins Cameras, which has been in Cambridge since 1807 (or whenever!) and on King’s Parade since 1952.

Owen has run the business since 2016 and has successfully negotiated it through Covid-19. This includes a significant growth in the online business and the introduction of the annual Cambridge Photography Week and The Cambridge Photography Show.

Owen comes with a pedigree in the football boardroom. During his tenure at FK Sloboda Tuzla in Bosnia they managed to escape the championship, become established in Premiere League and reach the cup final, ultimately taking the club into the Europa League.

A long time football fan at all levels, Owen has regularly played football at local levels and spends his summers playing cricket, also having enjoyed many years of playing hockey and volleyball.

On joining the club, Owen said: “Sport, business and the local community has been a massive part of my life here. I’m really looking forward to bringing my experience as a business owner and football club board director to Histon FC. We having a thriving local community and the passion and spirit at Bridge Road is something I had to be part of. Thank you for welcoming me to the club and I really look forward to see us go from strength to strength. My wife, Sara, and daughter, Erica, and I look forward to visiting Bridge Road with Ledley our border Terrier to cheering on the Stutes!”
