Anstey Nomads V HISTON

Saturday October 8th th 2022, 3.00pm Kick Off

United Counties League, Knockout Cup, Preliminary Round

Lance Key’s Stutes head North -West of Leicester in a break from league action, facing unfamiliar opposition. Our hosts, The Nomads currently sit in 7th place of the United Counties League, Premier Division North, whilst they have made an almost unprecedented run to the 4th Qualifying Round of this season’s FA Cup, where a home tie against National League side Chesterfield awaits.

The Cropston Road side have thus far managed to navigate victories in 5 of only 8 league outings, recording 2 draws, both against Loughborough Students and suffering a lone defeat. This defeat was on the opening day, when visitors Heanor Town gained all 3 points. Within their FA Cup exploits ‘The Nomads’ have disposed of Radford, Skegness Town, Whitchurch Alport, Northern Premier side Ilkeston Town, with their latest conquest being over Shefford Town and Campton. Given our hosts other slightly more pressing future games it may be expected to see some rotation of players from the home side, with next week’s live TV game understandably proving to be of much more importance.

The goals have been shared around for Anstey, Corey Armeni has amassed 7 goals, with Michael Reeve, and Harry Wakefield having also notched on 6 occassions. In fact in the 15 matches played (in all competitions), The Nomads have not yet failed to score.

For The Stutes, it is likely to be the case that there shall be some rotation within the squad, so that the management can cast their eyes over the splattering of fringe, and Youth Team players who have at times featured, and have not looked out of place. At the same time, this may allow a few a number of the more senior members of our small squad to gain the advantage of being rested, or serving limited minutes from the bench.

If the scores are level after 90 minutes, the tie shall go straight to penalty kicks from the mark to determine a winner. NO EXTRA TIME IS TO BE PLAYED
