HISTON v Desborough Town
United Counties League Premier Division South
Saturday 30th March 2024, kick-off @ 2.00pm
After last Saturday’s epic win over title-chasing Aylestone Park we entertain another team with everything to fight for tomorrow as we welcome Desborough Town to Bridge Road for our penultimate home league game of the season.
Our visitors are fighting for their lives at the wrong end of the table and last Saturday’s 1-2 defeat at Eynesbury left them in the relegation place, two points behind Leicester Nirvana having played a game more.
Our visit to Waterworks Field earlier this season was a good one for us and an even better one for Matty Allan who struck all of our goals in a 5-1 win but our side is much changed since then and Matt Hayden has taken over the goal scoring role with 7 goals himself from 9 appearances since returning to the club a few weeks ago.
Chris Nunn has our developing young Stutes side well and truly firing at the moment and that win over Aylestone Park last weekend was our sixth straight in the league, a run that has moved us up to 11th and top of the form table. All of this has been done whilst juggling a small squad suffering from numerous injuries to senior players but the youngsters that have been brought in, many from our own Under 18s squad, have been mightily impressive so far.
Question marks remain over return dates for many of those senior players but Marcus Cole returned to action last weekend and hopefully the overall injury situation will continue to improve ahead of tomorrow’s game.
Our Burger Bar will be closed again tomorrow but hot food will be provided by Cambridge Hog Roast whose mobile unit will be on site throughout the afternoon.
Kick-off is at 2pm and turnstiles open at 12.30.
