United Counties League, Premier Division South

HISTON v Rothwell Corinthians

Kick Off 3PM

Matchball Sponsored by Paul Bradley

The Stutes are back at Bridge Road, following a run of 5 away fixtures. This time out Lance Key’s side will be facing an opponent that we have already crossed paths with this season, back on August 2nd. Our visit to Sergeants Lawn proved to be fruitful, as goals from Ollie Brookes, and Dan Brown brought us our first United Counties League victory. A late goal for the hosts led to a few nervy minutes as The Stutes managed close the game out, 2-1.

Our visitors have until now somewhat struggled, and currently occupy bottom spot in the Division. An 3-2 opening game win against fellow strugglers Lutterworth Town, and 1-0 victory against Coventry Sphinx are the only occasions that points have been collected, the latter back on August 29th. However, The Corinthians did run highly tipped Newport Pagnell Town close losing 3-2, whilst last weekend they were on the wrong end of 3 goals against G.N.G Oadby Town. Thus far a total of 39 players have donned a Corinthians shirt this season.

From our own point of view, Lance Key’s side will no doubt be looking to shore up their defensive line, having conceded 6 last week, albeit at the free scoring table toppers Rugby Town. New signing, defender Sol Goodby will look to be included once again, having made his debut from the bench late on, whilst Rhys Thorpe will hope to make a return to the squad, having been unavailable a week ago. Pat Bexfield shall again miss out due to suspension.

A reminder that both cash, and card continue to be accepted at the turnstiles, however the catering outlet and bar continue to be CASH ONLY facilities.
