Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to use this last write up before Christmas and the end of the year to summarise our year and, more importantly, the steps forward that we’ve made as a club.

The highs and lows over the past two seasons have been extreme to say the least. After our league winning, or I should say dominating, season in 2018/19, our first season back at Step 4 was cut short and our second season has now been put on hold. But I think it is important to reflect on the good rather than talk about the difficulties this year has put in place.

We are a club back on the rise.  We have cemented our place in Step 4, not just as a Step 4 club but as Step 4 contenders to move back into Step 3. Considering where the club was a few years ago when I came back, we’ve made great steps in becoming a resilient and tough opponent for other teams. We’ve got a great squad of players together and have a good team morale in place to allow us to grind out results, as we’ve proven.

Who knows what will happen with this season, or if we have to wait until next season to start our climb again.  But either way, Histon FC is now a club that is making moves back to Step 3! We’re no longer looking over our shoulder worrying about a continued downfall. We are looked at it as a club back on the rise to where we were and that is down to our own efforts over the past year.

That is not just the players, but also the staff, the volunteers and the people behind the scenes helping to keep the club ticking and moving smoothly.

2020 has been a year that most of us will like to move on from quickly. We have had to adapt our lives and missed spending time with our family and friends. We have also lost loved ones along the way. However, I hope that everyone involved with the club has a great time at Christmas with their family as that is what this time of year is all about. 2021 is on the horizon with still an uneasiness regarding where our lives and also non league football will be. But for now, we all need this period in which to switch off and eat, drink and be merry!

From all the players, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Max
