HISTON v CONSETT
Inter-Step Play-Off
Saturday 30th April 2022
Kick Off @ 3.00pm

Match sponsored by Andrew Diaper (Vice President IBM EMEA Cloud)

As previously announced we will host Consett AFC in a one-off game to decide which of us is placed at Step 4 for the 2022/23 season. Should the scores be level after 90 minutes there will be extra-time played and if still necessary after that, penalties.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of how the FA have gone about their project of forcing clubs into their “perfect pyramid” structure and ignoring things such as geography, we are where we are and our opponents now face a near 500 mile round trip to The Bridge where we will fight it out for the reward of Step 4 football next season.

Our visitors have of course had a good season and finished runners-up behind North Shields in the Northern League Division 1. Manager Andy Coyles was appointed in November 2021 but has had to cope with a long list of injuries in the season run-in to see his sides’ chances of lifting the title fade.

We know about injuries here at The Bridge of course but Lance can at least expect Pat Bexfield to be available on Saturday. The versatile midfielder was forced off at Sporting Khalsa on Saturday with a knock but is expected to be ok for the weekend. Danny Gould, Evan Key and Luke Lindsay all remain out though.

From the clubs’ point of view this game is run a little differently to usual and is classed as an FA competition game and as such is subject to rules similar to those of the FA Cup, Trophy and Vase with proceeds split between the clubs and the two leagues involved. Supporters should note that season tickets will therefore NOT be valid for this game and Cambridge City season ticket holders will NOT be able to gain half-price entry as would normally be the case for a regular league game.

Admission prices:

Adults £10
Concessions £5
Under 16s £2
Under 10s FOC

See you there!
