Histon Football Club is delighted to announce that following discussions prior to Saturday’s game, it was agreed that First Team Manager Lance Key will continue is his role for the 2022/23 season. Joining Lance in the dugout will be the stable duo of Mark Critoph, and Simon Day.
Although the 2021/22 season ultimately ended in disappointment with Saturday’s Play-Off defeat and in turn relegation to Step 5, the board of directors unanimously agreed that Lance should remain the man to lead the club going forward.
Director Josh Few reflects; “Lance has the full support of the board in its entirety. I believe that this past season is not a true or fair reflection of the capabilities that Lance has shown during his time as manager. This was underlined with the season starting with a depleted squad assembled in a very brief period due to the club’s appeal process pending last summer. With a full pre-season to prepare we all very much look forward to assisting Lance in his quest to assemble a squad that is more than capable of competing in whatever league we shall be placed in.”
On his commitment Lance had to say the following; “The last year has been a very tough one but one I have learned more about myself and the team. Going into next season we will be more determined than ever to bring back a positive vibe to the club. The taste of relegation will now be the drive to improve our squad and we are very hopeful that we can recruit and make the tough decisions to make this club successful again. We are committed to the cause and are grateful that the board have kept faith with us. We are already looking forward to the new season…UTS.”
The club hope that you can continue to get behind Lance, Mark, and Simon as you have done during the challenging year we have faced.
Thank you very much for having done so!
