Uhlsport United Counties League, Premier Division South
Saturday April 22nd 2023
Long Buckby AFC v HISTON
Kick Off 3pm
For the 34th and final time this season, Lance Key’s side are in United Counties League action as The Stutes head to bottom side Long Buckby.
Coming fresh off the back of a 2-2 draw at Eynesbury Rovers, Key’s Histon side will be hopeful of ending their season with all 3 points, having gone through a somewhat inconsistent patch of late. Despite this recent blip 6th place in the league was confirmed with the point gained on Thursday evening.
Our hosts The Bucks have found the going rather tough having only won 4 times from their 32 games played so far. Having scored on just 27 occasions whilst conceding 92 the Northamptonshire club will be plying their trade at Step 6 in the 2023/24 season having spent just two seasons within the UCL’s top flight this time around. All at Bridge Road hope that better times are just around the corner and a swift return to the Premier Division is gained.
The two sides met at Bridge Road on November 5th when The Stutes claimed all 3 points with a comprehensive 6-0 victory. Goals from Mar-Lee Fisher, Ollie Brookes, Connor Barnes, Roman Barton, Roman Lott-Canning and an own goal helped the home side on their way.
Stutes boss Lance Key shall have plenty to ponder over with his team selection as both Ryan Towner and Connor Barnes will be missing owing to injury. Harry Meats will look to return to the fray after he was unavailable last time around, whilst Max York may well be used as an emergency striker once again having scored on Thursday night. Marcus Cole is a doubt after he suffered a knock from a nasty looking challenge at Eynesbury.
