After an enforced break, we return to action on Boxing Day (Kick Off Noon) as near neighbours Eynesbury Rovers make the short journey east along the A428.

The last time both sides were in action was back on December 3rd. Our visitors collected 3 points at bottom side Long Buckby, thanks to goals from Michael Baulk, Joshua Marshall and Tom Rowley. At Bridge Road that afternoon The Stutes ran out 5-2 winners against 9 man Desborough Town, an own goal opening the scoring, before Max York, Ryan Towner, Connor Barnes and Dexter Todd got on the scoresheet.

Lance Key shall be looking to extend his sides winning run to three games, having seen last two scheduled league fixtures cancelled due to the cold snap that gripped much of the country. This break may be seen as a positive, given the chance for key players such as Luke Crisp, Dan Brown and Luke Lindsay to continue their comebacks from injury. Whilst this festive fixture may be too soon for Brown, and certainly Lindsay, Crisp may well be fit enough to be included within the matchday squad.

With just 2 defeats in the last six, scoring 21 goals in the process, The Stutes will be keen to continue the positive run of form that has seen the side progress to within 3 points of the top 6. With what appears to be a kinder run of games as we enter 2023, an onward march toward up the table will no doubt be targeted.

Eynesbury make the trip to Bridge Road having won 2 of their last 6 fixtures, including a 3-1 away victories at both Long Buckby and Desborough Town. Rovers currently sit in 13th position, having scored 25 and conceded 41 goals, equaling the 3rd most in the division. On the goalscoring front Tom Rowley currently tops the charts with 5 goals, whilst the heavily experienced and former Stutes loanee Ben Farrell and Lewis Lynn have 4 goals each. Another former Stute, Michael Baulk has netted on 3 occasions.

Since his appointment in mid-September, Manager Neil Morris has helped steer his side in a somewhat upward trajectory, although there remains work to be done to pull away from those below his side. With a splattering of experienced faces such as Farrell, Baulk, Jonny Butler and Reece King amongst a blend of younger players it would be assumed that Rovers should have enough strength to steer well clear of the league’s ‘danger zone’

A further reminder that Kick Off is at the earlier time of 12 Noon.
