Desborough Town v HISTON

Kick Off 2PM

MATCH POSTPONED OWING TO A WATERLOGGED PITCH

For the fourth time this season The Stutes face Desborough Town, as Lance Key’s side look to put the disappointment of last Saturday’s defeat behind them. We make the trip to Braybrooke Road having been paired in the FA Cup back in August, firstly sharing a goalless draw in Desborough, before we ran out 4-0 victors at Bridge Road in the replay. That evening our goals came thanks to early strikes from Luke Crisp and Ryan Towner, before a late brace from Luke Lindsay saw us into the next round. Our most recent meeting came on December 3rd at Bridge Road, as The Stutes gained 3 points against a visiting side that ended the game with 9 men. The scoring was opened courtesy of an own goal, before Max York, Ryan Towner, Connor Barnes and Dexter Todd all got on the scoresheet in the 5-2 win.

‘Ar Tarn’ come into this fixture having drawn their previous two games, both last weekend at Bugbrooke St Michael and on Boxing Day on the road at Rothwell Corinthians. A goal a piece was shared in both games, with top goalscorer Ian Blaiklie netting a week ago, with a late penalty sealing a point at Rothwell. Desborough currently sit in 12th position, having accrued 17 points from 18 games, 11 points behind Lance Key’s side. Ian Blaiklie continues to lead the line with 12 goals thus far, although he has been kept at bay by The Stutes defence in the three meetings thus far this season.

Meanwhile, after the frustration of a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Godmanchester Rovers, Lance Key shall be hoping that his side can turn in a performance such as those prior that had seen his side collect 3 consecutive wins. Whilst we were well beaten by a much improved Godmanchester side, Key will no doubt have been pleased to introduce Luke Lindsay back to action, with Luke Crisp starting his first game since November 26th.

A positive result will be desired from this trip to Northamptonshire in order to keep within arm’s reach of the top 6, especially ahead of a tough test in a weeks’ time when we host 3rd placed MK Irish.
