Buildbase FA Trophy Preliminary Round Replay
Tuesday 11th October 2016

This result will have left new manager Lance Key in no doubt about the size of the job he has taken on as he watched his new charges crushed by Rushden & Diamonds. Taylor Orosz set the tone putting the visitors ahead in the third minute before adding a second on the quarter hour mark. Histon couldn’t get into the game and just before half time Tom Lorraine made it 3-0 to Diamonds.

Any hopes of a second half comeback were soon dashed when Nabil Shariff found himself on one with Conroy and the striker calmly lifted the ball over Conroy to make it 4-0. Five minutes later it was 5-0 when Lorraine grabbed his second of the game, poking home from close range after we failed to clear from a free kick into the box.

Jake Newman replaced Shariff with 65 minutes gone and within a couple of minutes had arrowed a powerful drive into the far corner to make it 6-0.

The one highlight for the home supporters came on 82 minutes when Danny Gould fired home from distance to record his first goal for the club, but it was little consolation.
