Buildbase FA Trophy Preliminary Round
Saturday 8th October 2016

Lance Key took charge of the team for the first time since his appointment on Friday and would have been pleased to see his side earn a deserved draw and another chance to progress at The Glassworld Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Diamonds took the lead a few minutes before half time when Tom Lorraine diverted Evangelinos’s cross into the corner past Conroy as both sides created chances during an even first half.

The second period was much the same but on 69 minutes the scores were levelled. Max York rose high at the back post to head a corner back across goal where the waiting Ben Yeomans was on hand to turn the ball home and register his first goal for the club.

As the clock ticked down the hosts pushed for the winner and Conroy had to be alert on a couple of occasions but as we entered added time Yeomans lead a break 3 on 3 with Gould and Ourtilbour racing to join him. The striker moved the ball to his left and elected to shoot but his effort flew just past the post and the Ref brought the game to a close soon after.

The sides will try again on Tuesday evening at The Glassworld where a winner will have to be found and extra time and penalties will be used if needed.
