GNG Oadby Town v HISTON

Kick Off 3pm

The Stutes make a first trip to the South edge of Leicester as they visit GNG Oadby Town, just two weeks after the sides met at Bridge Road.

Lance Key takes his side to the East Midlands, seeking to maintain a fine run of form that has seen his side emerge as contenders for a top 5 finish. Histon enter the final 10 games of the season having gone unbeaten in their last 6 UCL games. Within this run we overcame Saturday’s hosts with a 5-0 win at Bridge Road. Two own goals assisted the home side, before strikes from Ryan Towner, Connor Barnes and Dan Brown confirmed a convincing victory.

Since this meeting our hosts have suffered three successive defeats. The first two of which would have come as a bitter disappointment with struggling Rothwell Corinthians and the previously free-falling Easington Sports both collecting 3 points in narrow 1-0 victories. On Tuesday evening they faced MK Irish, suffering a 3-0 loss on the road. This leaves GNG with just one victory in their previous six games, this having come at their home of The Riverside on February 4th, a 2-1 win over Eynesbury Rovers.

The Stutes are to be without a few key faces which may well have an impact on the outcome. Luke Lindsay is a doubt due to a knock, whilst Pat Bexfield remains on the sidelines. Marcus Cole is unavailable which meaning Lance Key will have to make at least 1 change from the starting XI that claimed the points at March Town United.

However, with the strength that has been shown with both our Reserve and Youth Teams in recent weeks then there is likely to be a number of capable and youthful bodies that the Stutes boss will be able to call upon.
