Paul Smart has been an important part of the Histon FC Board of Directors since he joined us in June 2022. However, Paul and his wife Lisa have advised the Board that they intend to move away from the area, in the near future, to be nearer to their family. Given this, Paul feels that remaining as a Director is unfortunately no longer an option for him. It is therefore with a lot of sadness that the Board has had to accept Paul’s resignation which will take effect from the end of the 2026/27 season.
Over the past four years, Paul has been instrumental in strengthening the club finances, which are now in a very healthy position. This has made the club very stable and allows us to carry out some much needed renovations and improvements to the club facilities. In addition, it goes without saying, that it allows us to strengthen our teams as we strive to move the club forward on the pitch.
It is not only the clubs finances Paul looks after as he also fully oversees the staffing as well as managing and running the club bar. This is an important role and one that is key in the success of the club. We therefore need to find a replacement for Paul in this area.
Although Paul has given notice that he is intending to move away, we have recently welcomed Mark Wilkinson to the Board who brings his local knowledge and contacts to the club. We are also delighted that Liz Pamplin, the Co-Manager of our successful Ladies side, has also agreed to join the Board. Liz brings with her a wealth of knowledge in Women’s football and assists the club strengthen its skill in that area.
The Board are looking to find a replacement for Paul sooner rather than later, to cover his many roles and responsibilities, so that there can be a seamless handover of the brilliant work Paul has instigated. In addition to a Bar Manager, we are ideally looking for a Commercial Manager/Director or individuals, preferably with a finance or business background, with a passion for football and who want to be part of our great club.
