Two goals by Isaac Maynard and a superb double-save by a goalkeeper making his Histon debut gave us our first league win of the season at the Camtech and Caprice Stadium.  The three points lift us out of the bottom two in the division for the first time since the end of August.  Highlights can be viewed on our YouTube channel HERE.

But who is that green giant of a goalkeeper who helped us deny FC Stratford an equaliser in the frantic closing stages of the game?  Well, he is 20-year-old Marcus Bald, who despite his young age is not short of experience between the sticks.  He first made a name for himself as an 18-year-old at Newport Pagnell where he made 46 appearances during the 2024/25 season.  Not surprisingly, his performances for the Swans came to the attention of some bigger clubs and Northern Premier League Midlands Division side Rugby Town signed him in the Summer of 2025.  He started the 2025/26 season as Rugby Town’s Number One and made a total of 29 appearances for the club.

Marcus then moved a few miles down the road to join Step 4 side Rugby Borough for the start of their current NPL Midlands Division campaign.  He made 13 starts for Borough before Chris Nunn offered him a place at Histon, where he has already made his mark despite suffering a tyre blow-out on his way to the game!

Welcome to Histon, Marcus, and let’s hope your journey for our home game against FC Peterborough next Saturday is a little less stressful.
