It is currently the time of year when the UCL Fixtures Secretary has the unenviable job of shoe-horning previously postponed matches and an assortment of cup fixtures into an already congested league schedule whilst ensuring each club’s own preferences and special circumstances are met.  It’s an almost impossible task, particularly with the UCL Knockout Cup in full swing and several UCL clubs still playing in the FA Vase.  It is inevitable that some games have to be rearranged at short notice and our fixture against FC Stratford this coming weekend is one such example.

FC Stratford are a club that shares the Arden Garages Stadium in Tiddington, Staffordshire, with Step 4 club Stratford Town, and when the Southern League told Stratford Town they had to play a home game this weekend it meant that FC Stratford were no longer able to host us as originally planned.  However, a solution to this problem was found when we agreed to Saturday’s game being switched to the Camtech and Caprice Stadium and for us to travel to Staffordshire on the date in February when FC Stratford were originally due to visit us.  So, this Saturday we play at home for the third week running with a 3pm kick-off.

Another of our UCL fixtures to be rescheduled is our visit to Atherstone Town, which was originally scheduled for Saturday 31st October.  This game is now postponed due to Atherstone having progressed to the second round proper of the FA Vase.  A date for the rearranged fixture had yet to be set, so please check our various social media platforms for news on this one.

We also learned this week that we have been drawn to play Ely City at home in the Second Round of the Cambs Invitation Cup.  This game is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 3rd November with a 7.45pm kick-off.  The full draw is:-

Cambridge City v Great Shelford

Histon v Ely City

Soham Town Rangers v March Town United

Newmarket Town v Hardwick.
