Football clubs at all levels are expensive to run and Histon FC is no exception.  Like any other business, the club needs constant investment in order to move forward and the Board is doing everything it can to ensure we reach our full potential.  We have come a long way since the dark days of ten to fifteen years ago and last season our Men’s, Ladies’ and Under 18s sides all showed what can be achieved when the club and it’s supporters all work together.

Off the pitch, the club has coped well with ever-increasing general running costs and last year we even managed to return a modest profit.  But every now and then something comes along which puts an extra strain on the club’s purse strings.  

Our existing floodlights are nearly forty years old and the pylons are showing signs of their age. A recent ground survey recommended that they be replaced before they deteriorate further. We therefore need to replace them with an up-graded system and one that will meet the standards required at a higher level of football.

To this end, the club is securing a grant from the Premier League Football Stadium Fund covering 70% of the cost and while this is very good news for the club, we still need to find the remaining 30% of around £25,000.  We are therefore asking for help from not only our loyal supporters and existing business partners but also the wider business and football community to help us reach the £25,000 target. 

Whatever you can contribute towards our target will help us take a step closer to installing new energy efficiency floodlights and start saving on our energy cost.  These savings will then be invested in our activities on the pitch.  As a ‘thank you’ for your help, anyone contributing £250 will receive a signed first team shirt and for £1,000 or more your name or business will be entered onto a roll of honour in the clubhouse.
