Preparations for the 2026/27 season at Bridge Road are already underway with Joint-Managers Matt Payne and Mark Critoph feverishly preparing our First team for a fifth season in the United Counties League Premier Division South. There are several newcomers in the division next season, plus a few old friends such as St Neots Town and Coventry Sphinx which will no doubt present us with some fresh and exciting challenges as the season unfolds. Where we will be at the end of the new campaign is something we can only speculate on at present, but we can be sure that everyone at Histon FC will be doing everything within there power to ensure we finish the season in the best possible position, and perhaps with some long-overdue silverware to polish.
To get the ball rolling, Mark and Matt have put together a selection of pre-season friendlies designed to ensure we kick off the season in peak condition and fully prepared for the rigours that lay ahead. We start under the Bridge Road floodlights on a Friday night with the visit of Royston Town. Royston were relegated from the Southern League Premier Central Division last season and are now preparing for life back at Step 4 in the Southern League Central Division.
Next up are our old friends from Corby Town. The Steelmen are currently members of the same Northern Premier League Midlands Division that we were part of in 2021/22 before being relegated in a play-off game against Consett AFC. We have not won against Corby in any of the last eleven meetings between the two clubs, so there will be a little extra to play for in that one.
After a visit to St Ives to play Hemingfords United, we host Downham Town, who have returned to the Eastern Counties League Premier Division after a year at Step 4 in the Isthmian League Division One North. This one has been nominated as the Stephen Parker Memorial Match for 2026.
The competitive season should kick off around about the last week in July, but nothing has been officially announced as yet. Keep an eye on this website for any confirmation of this and of any updates to our friendlies schedule.
