HISTON v Aylestone Park

Sports Ground Development United Counties League Cup 1R
Saturday 7th October 2023, kick-off @ 3.00pm

The squad responded to a difficult week of upheaval in superb style last weekend with a 5-1 demolition of Desborough Town on Saturday. There were good performances all over the pitch but we have to congratulate Matty Allan in particular for an outstanding display of clinical finishing that saw him claim all 5 of our goals on the day, a feat that has surely not been achieved for a long, long time at this football club or many others for that matter. The bad news is that we go into today’s game without the in-form striker, who signed for Wellingborough Town yesterday.

That result has lifted the mood around the place though and now we look forward to welcoming Aylestone Park to Bridge Round for our Sports Ground Development United Counties League Cup First Round tie.

We’ve already met this season of course, on the first day of the league season when despite going two up early on through Dan Brown and Ryan Towner we were pegged back and eventually went down 3-2. Saturday offers the chance to put that reverse right and interim Gaffer Matt Payne will be looking for the team to pick up where they left off on Saturday. There is some good news on injuries with Connor Barnes in contention to return, albeit likely from the bench. Ed Rolph, Miles Smith and Harvey Bullinaria are not far behind in their recoveries either and should be back involved very soon even though today is probably just too early for each of them. Luke Crisp however is further away from a return although the midfielders’ rehab is progressing well. Rob Ruddy is back in the squad though as we look to make it two wins on the bounce to see us through into the next Round but midfielder Bubba Camara will serve the first of a three-match suspension following his red card at Desborough last weekend.

Should the sides be level after 90 minutes the winners will be decided by penalty shoot-out, there will be no extra-time.

Tickets for this game are available to buy in advance on our ticket portal here, but we can also take cash or contactless payment at the turnstile on the day of course.

The Bar and Burger Bar will both be open as usual too with cash and contactless payment available at both. The Burger Bar is supplied by Histon Chop Shop whose burgers and sausages are hand made to order for the club whilst we also offer Pukka Pies, as well as chips (of course!).  However, please note that due to staff availability, the Burger Bar will NOT be open before kick-off on Saturday. It will however be open as soon as we possibly can after that.

Turnstiles open at 1.30pm.
