GNG Oadby Town v HISTON

United Counties League Premier Division South
Saturday 6th January 2024, kick-off @ 3.00pm

We kick off 2024 with a trip to Oadby Town as we look to build upon a good holiday period in which we picked up 6 points from 9.

Our hosts are having a pretty good season so far with 37 points putting them 8th in the table and they have had all sorts of results this season although 0-0 hasn’t been among them. Instead there have been 125 goals in their 25 league games so far and that’s a total no other team can match! They have scored 54 of those goals themselves and Lamar Parkes leads the way with 13 closely followed by Mussa Bham on 12. Tomorrow will be their fifth home game from their last six in the league, the last outing at the Riverside being a 3-2 win over Rugby Borough just before Christmas.

For us, Nunny will want to get back to winning ways after last Saturday’s 2-3 defeat at promotion-chasing St Neots, albeit a defeat in a game from which we very nearly completed a near-epic comeback to claim a point. Wins at Newport Pagnell and at home against Goddy Rovers over the holiday period have helped us start to move up the table and with so many teams so closely packed in terms of points a win tomorrow could see us jump up a couple more places.

Jim Burnside and Jake Kerins both made welcome returns from suspension last Saturday and will be available again tomorrow but defender Miles Smith must sit this one out after picking up a fifth yellow card of the season at St Neots.

Stadium address: The Riverside Ground, Braunstone Lane East, Rowley Fields, Leicester, LE3 2FD.

Driving time from Bridge Road: approx 1 hour 30 mins (78 miles)
