Bugbrooke St. Michaels v HISTON

United Counties League Premier Division South
Saturday 25th November 2023, kick-off @ 3.00pm

Northamptonshire is our destination tomorrow when we go to The Sett, home of the Badgers of Bugbrooke St. Michaels where we will be aiming to continue our recent run of form even if last weekend’s injury-time defeat at Racing Club Warwick was a somewhat unfortunate reverse.

The Badgers sit 10th in the table with 22 points from 17 games and have been showing some form of their own recently as back-to-back league wins over Yaxley and Coventry United show, although last weekend’s 1-2 defeat at Aylestone Park means they will want to bounce back now they are on home turf again. Calvin Green has been banging in plenty of goals for our hosts with 14 to his name in all competitions, 13 of those in the league, and he will present a clear danger to our back line tomorrow.

Despite last Saturday’s late defeat at RC Warwick, every Stute present will have been impressed with the team’s performance, particularly in the second half when we created a number of chances that on another day might well have lead to all three points heading back to The Bridge. Left-back Ellis Leka capped a fine debut at Warwick with the goal that looked like it was going to take a point from the title chasers and he already looks like another shrewd signing by manager Chris Nunn. The one worry is an injury to Danny Gould that forced him off last Saturday but that is not as bad as first feared although the flyng winger will undergo a fitness test before a decision is made on whether he can be involved tomorrow. Physio Craig Galbraith reports no other new injury concerns and so the manager should be able to call on everyone else barring long-term absentees Pat Bexfield and Rob Ruddy.
