On a wet afternoon at Bridge Road yesterday goals from Simon Swinton and Ed Rolph saw us take all three points from a game in which we had to dig out a result from a difficult position.

The visitors started the game well and should have gone ahead after a couple of minutes when Timothy Monsheju blasted over with the goal at his mercy. Once we settled into the game though we started to pose a threat with Dan Brown and Ed Rolph going close but the sides were level at 0-0 at the break.

Things livened up in the second half and on 53 minutes Simon Swinton gave us the lead when his shot took a deflection on it’s way past Lewis Greene in the Sports’ goal

Stutes’ supporters celebrations were cut short a couple of minutes later though when keeper Sam Roach was red carded for handling the ball outside the area. Goal scorer Simon Swinton was sacrificed by Lance who sent on Buster Harradine to take over in goal and then to top off a roller coaster 5 minutes for the home support, Ed Rolph glanced a lovely header past Greene to double our lead a really give us something tohold on to.

With half an our still to play we were always going to come under pressure with a man down and on 68 minutes Sports got a goal back when Joe Wright fired through a crowded area to make it 2-1.

The visitors continued to push and put us under some intense pressure in the closing minutes but the team defended with determination and saw the game out well to take the points.
