Eynesbury Rovers v HISTON
Kick Off 3pm
Now without a win in four, Lance Key takes his side on the short trip to Eynesbury with the aim of ending the season in a positive fashion.
With Saturday’s draw feeling much like a loss given the circumstances in which a deserved victory was cruelly snatched, it would be expected that The Stutes will come into this tie with some extra fire in their bellies. They will be bolstered by having the services of captain Ollie Brookes who was unavailable at the weekend.
Our hosts Eynesbury Rovers saw off local rivals Godmanchester on Saturday 2-0, thanks to a brace from Victor Osobu. That victory now all but guarantees Rovers safety, with 10 points separating them from the drop zone. Ahead of this tie, they had two tight affairs against sides around them, narrowly edging out Lutterworth Town by a solitary goal on April 1st, a much needed victory after they had suffered a disappointing defeat at home at the hands of Long Buckby. The aforementioned Osobu is unavailable for this clash as he misses out due to suspension. To date he has posed much of the attacking threat having scored 9 times from just 7 appearances, though fellow striker Tom Rowley also lays claim to 9 goals this term
The sides met at Bridge Road on Boxing Day when The Stutes narrowly claimed a 2-1 victory. An own goal saw the visiting Rovers take the lead, before Max York struck on the stroke of half time to buoy the home side. Marcus Cole grabbed the winner on the hour mark infront of a 268 strong festive crowd.
