Another tough watch on the road ended in a 5-1 defeat at West Street last night.
We got off to the worst possible start when Ross Wall ran through, despite vociferous claims for offside, to lift the ball into the net over Sam Roach in the first minute. Once we had settled we gave as good as we got with Danny Gould twice going agonisingly close to levelling the scores but with 38 minutes gone it started to really look like it wasn’t going to be our night when a penalty was awarded to the home side to the general astonishment of those present. Joseph Claridge didn’t look this particular gift horse in the mouth though and tucked the spot kick away to give the hosts a 2 goal lead at the break.
Two goals in a minute just before the hour mark finally settled things as Robert Harvey and then Jack Simmons took advantage of errors to make the game safe for the home side. Ed Rolph finished off a nice Histon move with quarter of an hour left to give us something to cheer but Joshua Pollard added another for the hosts in the last minute to round off a difficult night for us and put the icing on the cake for Coggeshall.
