The Board wish to express their thanks to Chris Nunn and his team for what they have achieved and created at Histon FC over the past two or so years. Chris took over at a difficult time for the club and was faced with some difficult decisions which he certainly did not shy away from. I think we have all learnt something from him and I have no hesitation in saying that the club is in a much better position than when he took over. We wish him every success in his new role at St Neots.
A change of manager can be a difficult time for any club, not only the players but also the Board and our band of loyal volunteers. The Board knew they had to act quickly and decisively in replacing Chris, so that is why we had no hesitation in appointing Mark Critoph and Matt Payne as his successors. Both are very capable and happy to step up to the challenge the role brings and certainly have the ability to lead the team to achieve its ambitions.
Both Mark and Matt have been very loyal to the club over the years, Mark as assistant to Lance Key and Matt with the ladies, reserves and youth teams. It is that commitment to the club which is highly commendable and what we are looking for moving forward. Both have shown their abilities to manage at this level and the Board will do everything in its powers to help them succeed.
I am personally disappointed to see Chris go but understand his reasons for doing so. His drive and enthusiasm to see Histon FC succeed was highly commendable. I recognise all the work he has done at the club both on and off the pitch and has in particular promoted respect between the players and to others. To me, the club now has a different feel about it which I hope has been noticed by volunteers and fans alike.
We have a fine cohort of youngsters all fighting for a First team place, which is all credit to the youth team managers’ abilities to attract the right players under the stewardship of Matt Payne, and I know he and Mark will be doing all they can to push this forward.
The Board has every confidence in our choice of successors to Chris .We wish them the best of luck.
Both I and the rest of my colleagues are always available to speak to you, so if anyone wants to, please feel free to give us a shout if there is anything you feel uneasy about or have concerns about.
I believe we currently have a great squad of players at the club and hope they share my belief in their ability to challenge at the top of this league. We hope you feel the same.
Up the Stutes!
