A new era begins at Bridge Road on Saturday when Mark Critoph and Matt Payne take charge of their first game as permanent joint managers of Histon FC. The duo are already well known to Histon fans and succeed Chris Nunn, who left from the club earlier this week to join the St Neots Town management team. Nunny was in charge of the First team for a little under two years in which we played 82 games and had a win rate of 38%.
Our visitors on Saturday are Lutterworth Town, who in midweek ended Nuneaton Town’s 100% record since the start of the season by holding the league leaders to a draw on their own turf.
Matt and Mark will be without Theo Goddard who serves the last of his three-game suspension this weekend. They will however be hoping that Max York has recovered from the nasty head-knock that forced him off the field last Saturday and that Danny Gould suffered no reaction following his return from injury in the same game.
Ninth-placed Lutterworth currently have one point more than the Stutes but have played three games more. Our six previous meetings have all come in the UCL with Histon winning two, Lutterworth one and three ending in draws.
For our Under 18s side, tonight is another Thursday Murder Club night at Bridge Road as Lee Keen’s side look to make another killing. The young Stutes have inflicted heavy defeats on all three of their opponents this season without conceding a single goal, but Newmarket Town will be looking to put a dent in their record tonight with a 7.45pm kick-off. First team squad members Jake Holman, Dawid Siek, Theo Goddard, Deacon Pattison, Zak Thompson and Cass Abood are all eligible to play, so this one should be excellent value at just £3 to get in.
Travelling Stutes fans will wish to note that our UCL Premier Division South game scheduled to take place at Newport Pagnell Town next Tuesday night has been postponed. This game will now be played on Saturday 4th October.
