The long wait for the United Counties League season to get back under way ends this Saturday as we make the trip to Bugbrooke St Michaels in search of a winning start to our 2025/26 season.  Manager Chris Nunn and his new coaching assistants Matt Payne and Mark Critoph will be hoping the team can continue where they left off on Tuesday night following a resounding 6-1 victory over Biggleswade Town. Alex Stevens-Lee and Jake Holman were amongst the scorers in a game which at times threatened to discard it’s billing as being a ‘Friendly’ and took on a more heated nature, but it was ideal preparation for what we can expect over the next nine months.

The game against the Waders rounded off our pre-season schedule with a fifth straight win, but some sparkling performances by our youth team players against more senior opposition may have pleased the manager more than the results.  17-year-old striker Dawid Siek and 16-year-old Cass Abood have been added to the squad for the visit to Bugbrooke and are joined by new signings Joe Greenslade-Cross and Danny Baulk, plus the returning Mar-Lee Fisher.

The game against Bugbrooke St Michaels kicks off at 3.00pm at their home ground in Birds Close, Gayton Road, Bugbrooke, NN7 3PJ.  Admission will cost you £8.00 or £5.00 for concessions.  Under 16s go free.

After the visit to Bugbrooke, we need only wait until Tuesday 29th July for our first home match of the campaign when March Town United are the visitors for a 7.45pm start.  We failed to beat the Hares in three attempts last season, so this game gives us an early opportunity to test ourselves against one of the stronger contenders for promotion.

We then go again the following Saturday when we entertain Thetford Town of the Eastern Counties League in an FA Cup Extra Preliminary round tie.  This match is being sponsored by our friends at Sun Skips.  Our full set of fixtures for 2025/26, should you wish to plan ahead or select one to sponsor yourself, can be seen here.

Admission prices at Bridge Road are unchanged from last year, but the cheaper option is to purchase a season ticket prior to the game by clicking here.  An added bonus is that Girton Golf Club is offering a 10% discount on new membership applications to all HFC season ticket holders.

If you can’t make it to Bugbrooke, video highlights will be available on this website a day or two after the game.  But a warm welcome awaits you at Bridge Road next week for our first two home matches of what promises to be a fascinating season.  Don’t miss a single minute of it!
