HISTON 2 ELY CITY 3
Cambs FA Invitation Cup
Tuesday 25th January 2022

Highlights below from Tuesday’s County Cup Quarter-Final against Ely City.

The visitors took an early lead through Luke Young only for Marcus Cole to level things up with his first goal for the club on 9 minutes. Young restored the Robins’ lead on the hour mark before Rhys Thorpe equalised, also with his first Histon goal five minutes later. We wererReduced to 10 men soon after when Bahador Chizari was forced off with a knee injury before Young completed his hat-trick with ten minutes left on the clock.

High points for us were the return of Max York to the side after the defender had re-joined the club earlier in the week. Also Lee Smith’s first start of the season and Evan Key and Bernat Burguera starting their first games for many months as they continue to recover from injury whilst Marcus Cole and Rhys Thorpe both got their first Histon goals. On the down side, serious injuries for both Ediz Greengrass and Bahador Chizari mean that the treatment room at The Bridge will remain a very busy place for some time.
