WEATHER UPDATE – Following the prolonged period of rain brought to us by Storm Goretti yesterday and today, a pitch inspection is scheduled for 10.15 on Saturday morning. The outcome of the inspection will be posted on this website and the club’s other social media platforms as soon as the outcome is known.
This coming Saturday we are scheduled to entertain Daventry Town in our first home match of 2026, but with the weather threatening to take a turn for the worse over Friday and the early hours of Saturday morning, it looks likely that a pitch inspection will be required before the game can be given the all-clear.
The Bridge Road pitch was frozen hard on Monday but it thawed out during the slightly warmer temperatures in the middle of the week. However, Storm Goretti is due to hit the local area on Thursday night and Friday morning and is threatening to bring levels of rain or snow that the pitch will struggle to cope with. It is therefore recommended that supporters check this website or our other social media platforms before venturing down to the ground on Saturday afternoon.
Both Daventry and ourselves were without a game last weekend, so both sets of players will be keen to see the game go ahead before match fitness levels start to tail off. Daventry will be particularly looking forward to coming to CB24 as they have won here on two of their previous three visits with the other being a draw. They will also be keen to avenge the 0-4 drubbing we inflicted on them less than three months ago on their own ground. But with just two wins in their last 14 outings, they look to be a far cry from the side that beat us 0-5 at Bridge Road in January 2024.
Hopes are that Connor Barnes will be fit to start on Saturday after he was withdrawn at half time in our game against Eynesbury Rovers with a knock to his hip. Joe Greenslade-Cross is also close to a return to First team action after a two-month lay-off and Danny Baulk is available again after missing the last two games.
So, all is set for us to resume our challenge at the top end of the table at 2.00pm on Saturday, provided Storm Goretti finds an alternative route across the south of England and leave us to enjoy our footie on Saturday afternoon. Wrap up warm and please be careful out there as we want to see you all back at Bridge Road as soon as the winter weather allows.
