It’s March Town United v Histon FC Part Two on Tuesday night when we re-visit Robingoodfellows Lane for a Cambs FA Invitation Cup Semi-Final tie.  With memories of our 3-0 loss at the same venue just ten days ago still fresh in our minds, the game is the perfect opportunity for us to exact some revenge and progress into the final of the competition for the first time since 2019.

March reached the semi-finals by beating Cambridge City in the previous round on penalties (9-8).  Our route to this stage was via a more comfortable 4-1 victory against Over Sports at Bridge Road back in December.  Stute fans will remember that we also reached the Semi-Final stage of the competition last season but lost a penalty shootout against Wisbech Town after the game finished in a 2-2 draw.

Our last meeting with March Town United in the CIC was in December 2023 when we won on penalties following a 0-0 stalemate at Bridge Road, but our last meeting in a Semi-Finals of the competition was back in 2004.  On that occasion we won by nine goals to nil and went on to beat Cambridge City in the Final.  Ady Cambridge (2), Neil Kennedy (2), Jamie Barker (2), Neil Andrews (2) and Louie Farrington were our goal scorers on that night.  A similar scoreline this time around is unlikely, but stranger things have happened, particularly in cup competitions!

The Stutes will undoubtedly go into the game as the underdogs following our recent defeat against the Hares.  Since that meeting, March have beaten St Neots Town in the Semi-Final of the Hinchingbrooke Cup after a dramatic penalty shootout, but on Saturday they were defeated 3-2 at Northampton Sileby Rangers.  Despite that loss, they are still in fourth place in the UCL Premier South table, eight points ahead of ourselves in eleventh spot.

The game will be played to a conclusion on the night with penalties to decide the winners if scores are level after 90 minutes.  The winners will meet either Newmarket Town or Ely City in the final.

Admission prices will again be £8.00 for adults, £5.00 for concessions and 16/17-year-olds and £2.00 for Under 16s.  Kick-off is at 7.45 pm and should you need the postcode again it is PE15 8HS.

Our First team is overdue some cup success and a win on Tuesday night would be a great reward for the work being done throughout the club.  With your backing, we can get another step closer to the trophy on Tuesday night.  Your support could make all the difference, so get behind the Stutes and join us on our journey.
