Pre-Season Fixture
Histon Reserves 4 Abington United 0
Histon’s Reserve Team have continued their perfect record in pre-season as they won a third game on the bounce. The Stutes ran riot against the visitors, in a game where Matt Payne’s side seemed to have chance after chance.

The first opportunity came just three minutes into the game, as Essien Romauld’s glancing header was just shy of the post, after he latched on to an Alfie Oakman throw-in. The chances kept coming for Histon, as in the 20th minute, Oakman swung a free kick into Ollie Foley, but the forward could not get a strong enough connection on the ball to direct it goalward.
Eleven minutes later, Foley managed to break the deadlock as Tafari Passley’s knocked on through ball found the striker in enough space to take the ball round the keeper and pass it into an open net.

Histon found a second in the 39th minute, as Oakman’s cutback inside the Abington box fell to Andre Brachmann, who was on hand to direct the ball into the far corner with a first-time finish.
Sixteen minutes into the second half, The Stutes were almost gifted a thrird goal, after Abington were caught at the back. The goalkeeper passed the ball into the patch of Andre Mendes, but he was only able to fire it straight back at the keeper.

In the 76th minutes, Histon managed to claim their third goal, after a ball was crossed into Sam Yeung who made a late run into the box. He managed to get his head onto the cross, his attempt looping goalward, to which hit the crossbar and bounced into the net off the back of the diving keeper.
Histon came close to a spectacular fourth in the 80th minute, as Jay Downham-Flood spun his man and whipped a cross for Tshiami Menelik-Mfuni, who’s bicycle kick effort was just tipped over the bar by the visiting goalkeeper.
A fourth goal were to come for the hosts five minutes from time as Stamford Jemwa threaded a ball through to Menelik-Mfuni, who calmly slotted the ball past the keeper into the far corner of the net.

A third win in pre-season means that Histon’s Reserve Team are still unbeaten during their pre-season campaign, with an impressive 15 goals scored in three games, looking ahead to their new season.
