We have a double-bill of First team action at Bridge Road this Bank Holiday weekend, starting with a First Round tie in the Isuzu FA Vase on Saturday afternoon against Eaton Socon FC. This will be our first ever competitive game against the St Neots based side
Eaton Socon are currently second in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One after winning all four of their league games so far this season. They will therefore be coming to Bridge Road in a confident frame of mind and with little to lose against a Histon side playing one step higher in the non-league pyramid system.
Following the 5-2 victory over Woodbridge Town in the FA Cup last weekend, Chris Nunn can welcome Connor Barnes back into his squad after a three-week absence. Also available will be our new signing Marley Dalgado who joined us from Thetford Town this week. The midfielder, aged 22, impressed the Histon management team during the two games he played against us earlier this month in Thetford Town’s colours and the club wasted no time in enquiring about his availability. The outcome was that he is now a Histon player and ready to play this Saturday. An interview with the former Kings Lynn Town and Lowestoft Town man is featured in the matchday programme for Saturday’s game priced at just £2.00.
Season Tickets are NOT eligible for games in the FA Vase, so admission for all will be £10 for adults, £6 concessions, £2 for 12 to 17-year-olds and accompanied under 12 go free. The bar will be open from 1.00pm and the hot food outlet serving the usual favourites will be open throughout the afternoon.
If the scores are level after 90 minutes the game will go straight to a penalty shootout, when the spirit and courage of England’s Chloe Kelly in the recent Women’s Euro Championships will be called upon. The winners of the tie will receive a guaranteed £775 from the FA Prize Fund while the losers will have to settle for just £160.
Then, 48-hours later on the Bank Holiday Monday, we take on Leicester Nirvana at Bridge Road in a United Counties League Premier Division South fixture with kick-off at 3.00pm. This is a fixture which we won 2-1 in February of this year with goals from Joe O’Neill and Connor Barnes. With both clubs looking to kick on from last season, this will be another one that both sides will be keen to win.
Your support at both fixtures would be amazing this weekend as we look forward to welcoming you to a sun-drenched Bridge Road for what are expected to be two cracking fixtures.
