After an extended run of home games, we travel to Northampton O.N. Chenecks this Saturday for our first away game since 12th August.  Our new team management duo of Matt Payne and Mark Critoph are looking for their first win since taking the reins at Bridge Road earlier this month, and Saturday’s game offers the perfect opportunity to turn our season around after a run of three successive defeats.

Mark and Matt will be delighted to have Theo Goddard available for selection this week after the young midfielder completed his three-match ban.  Max York may also be fit to play if the gash above his eye sustained two weeks ago against Southwell City has healed sufficiently.  Many of our young brigade will also be looking to stake a claim for a permanent place in the First Team.  The Under 18s were without a game on Thursday night so the likes of Jake Holman, Cassius Abood, David Siek and co will be hungry for some more First team action.

Like us, Chenecks had a change of management earlier this season, but despite playing their first seven games away from home they have made a solid start to their league campaign.  The two matches they have managed to play on their own ground have resulted in mixed fortunes.  Last weekend they beat Easington Sports 6-2 but they lost 0-3 against Moulton the previous week.  Despite their ups and downs, Chenecks are currently 6th in the league table on 14 points.  We are six points behind in 16th place but have played three games fewer.

The man to watch out for in the Chenecks lineup is Lewis Irwin who found the net 32 times in 2024/25.  This season he has five goals to his name so far, but there is no doubt that he is the man to stop.

The Old Northamptonians Sports Ground in Billing Road, Northampton is 53 miles from Bridge Road and the post code for your SatNav is NN1 5RX.  Entry is £8 for adults and £5 for concessions.  Reports are that this is one of the nicer grounds we will visit this season with a refreshments kiosk selling hot and cold drinks, soups, Bovril, steak pies, hot sausage rolls, crisps, sweets and chocolates.  There is also a bar open throughout the afternoon.

Matt, Mark, Galbo and the boys very much appreciate your support on the road, so why not get along to an away game this weekend.
