After two consecutive weekend’s wiped out due to the weather, The Stutes hope to be back in action, making the trip to Northamptonshire to visit current bottom side, Long Buckby.
The Bucks have had a challenging season, having only collected 2 wins from their 18 league games played thus far. We met at Bridge Road back on November 5th, an afternoon to remember for the home side who breezed to a 6-0 victory. The scoring was opened thanks to an own goal, before strikes from Mar-Lee Fisher, Ollie Brookes, Connor Barnes, Roman Barton and Roman Lott-Canning eased The Stutes to 3 points.
Our hosts are seeking to change their fortunes, having made two key signings in the past month. Mason Platts joined from league rivals Coventry Sphinx, whilst the experienced Dylan Wilson arrived on dual registration from Step 6 side Northampton ON Chenecks. The Bucks look to be in need of bolstering their forward line, having only managed to score on 13 occasions, whilst they have conceded 53 times. The Bucks last win was recorded way back on September 24th, when Cogenhoe United were beaten 2-0 on their own patch. The goals that afternoon came thanks to Joseph Pursey and Harry Waple-Moors.
Neither side has played a game in 21 days, when both sides suffered defeats at the hands of local rivals. The Stutes conceded 3 unanswered goals at Bridge Road against Godmanchester Rovers, whilst top side Rugby Town put 8 past Long Buckby without response.
Lance Key will be keen for his side to get back on track, having witnessed an uncharacteristic performance last time out. With his side now almost back to full strength, it would be ideal to see some momentum gained ahead of a crucial stage in the season.
