After taking an early lead we were eventually pegged back and high flying Marlow took all three points with a goal ten minutes from time.

Lance Key welcomed Ben Yeomans back from suspension and Justin Leavers who was cup tied in midweek. 17 year old Adam Capel kept his place in the back three as the Manager went looking for a second successive league victory.

The game started in spectacular fashion when Jos Gwynne (pictured) took a touch before rifling a blistering shot in off the underside of the bar from outside the area to give us the lead with only 9 seconds on the clock! Despite that early setback Marlow were nearly level within a minute but Conroy saved well when one on one with Brown. A couple of minutes later and we were close to doubling our lead, Yeomans’ tantalizing ball across the six yard box just evading everyone before being cleared.

It was certainly a lively start to the game but as Marlow started to settle they began to show the quality that has them near the top of the table. They carved another glorious chance to equalize with Conroy once more left one on one but the keeper, again, was equal to the task.

With half an hour or so gone Conroy was again in action, saving well from Jay Welch and Marcus Mealing twice before the visitors levelled things up. Mealing found himself with back to goal 12 yards out but a smart turn and left footed shot found the corner of the net to make it 1-1.

Marlow continued to have plenty of the ball in the second half but Conroy was equal to the challenge whenever called upon. Key brought on Simon Unwin and Aysa Ourtilbour with half an hour to go to try and wrestle some control back but with 12 minutes left Marlow found their winner, Mealing springing the offside trap to beat Conroy to the ball before side footing home.

Try as we might we just couldn’t find the final ball and weren’t able to test grant in the Marlow goal. Deep into added time however Gwynne sent a free kick into the area that wasn’t cleared and in the resulting scramble we were close to forcing the ball over the line but it wasn’t to be.
