BetVictor Isthmian League North
Saturday 1st February 2020
It was honours even at Bridge Road this afternoon as we shared the points with league leaders Aveley.
Ed Rolph got us off to a flyer when he took advantage of a mistake in the Aveley defence to shoot past David Hughes and give us the lead. In added time at the end of the half the Millers were level. Sam Roach was penalised harshly for picking up a “back pass” and from the resulting free kick the referee saw a handball and pointed to the spot despite the protests. Firmin Ngandu kept calm and fired past Roach from the spot to make it 1-1.
Chances came and went for both sides, particularly in the final stages when Alfie Lawrence had a great chance to win it for us before his shot was blocked. The young defender though was the hero soon after when making an unbelievable goal line block when it looked certain the visitors would grab a very late winner.
