Velocity Trophy Group 3
Wednesday 6th November 2019

We ended our Velocity Trophy Group Stage schedule with a convincing win at Hertingfordbury Park on Wednesday evening to give ourselves a chance of progressing into the knockout stages where a trip to Brightlingsea Regent awaits subject to the outcome of Ware’s game against Harlow Town next Tuesday.

Lance made a number of changes to the team following Saturday’s defeat at Tilbury with a number of our successful Under 18’s side stepping up. Lewis Mair and Ben Landshoff both made their first starts for us whilst Alfie Lawrence started for just the second time. Brian-Jeffrey Alihinou and Daniel Pieterson were also involved as second half subs and all five were very impressive on the night.

Ed Rolph put us ahead on 14 minutes, tucking away Dan Brown’s low ball in before Rolph returned the favour, cutting the ball back for Brown to double the lead on 36 minutes.

Town started the second half strongly but on 50 minutes Brown added another with a fine finish to put us 3 clear. With less than 20 minutes left James Chivers got himself on the score sheet when in the right place to take advantage of the home keeper’s error to score from close range.
