The last time a side from Hinckley visited Bridge Road was in April 2013 when both Histon FC and Hinckley United were competing in the Conference League North.  Twelve years on, Hinckley AFC has emerged from the ashes of the now defunct Hinckley United as a fan-owned club looking to emulate the achievements of their predecessors.  Although Hinckley and ourselves have been on different journeys over the past dozen years, our paths cross again this Saturday when we lock horns in a United Counties League fixture with three important league points up for grabs.

Victories in four of their last five games have lifted Hinckley up to fifth place in the league table, making them serious contenders for a second successive promotion after only been promoted to Step Five in 2024.  Can the Stutes halt them in their tracks and get our own bid for a place in the end of season play-offs back on course?  The answer to that question will begin to unfold at 3.00pm on Saturday in what could be a ripsnorter of a game between two sides with everything to play for.

Histon manager Chris Nunn will need to weigh up his defensive options for the game as Karl Saffery serves the first of his three-match ban following a red card at Coventry last weekend.  Karl is the only member of the squad to have played every minute of every game this season, but Charlie Black and new signing Theo Braham are just two of the options to fill the number six shirt in his absence.  Danny Setchell will also be an absentee after suffering a serious injury at work last week, but an otherwise fully fit squad will be eager to claim a third successive win in front of our home fans.

Our mascots for the game this week are the Cherry Hinton Under 9s Reds to whom we extend a warm welcome.  We also welcome the directors of the Histon Holdings Company as our match sponsors and Roman Prime-Stack as our match ball sponsor.  Look him up on YouTube, TikTok or Instagram by searching “THEPOSHGK” or by clicking here.

The turnstiles will be open from 1.00 with live football on the TV in the club bar.  Entry to the ground is £10 for adults, concessions £6 and Under 17s £2.  Accompanied Under 12s are admitted free.  The matchday programme, packed with articles, stats and the latest Stutes News, including the latest on Danny Setchell, is a “must have” at just £2.

With the return of the lighter evenings, all our home fixtures for the remainder of the season start at 3.00pm, including this Saturday against Hinckley and next weekend against Rugby Borough, so don’t miss a single moment and get down to Bridge Road to cheer the lads on to victory.
