United Counties League, Premier Division South

HISTON v March Town United

Kick Off 7.45pm

A first home league fixture beckons, as a Cambridgeshire Derby opens up our home schedule under the Bridge Road lights.

The visiting Hares have made a number of additions to their squad in the close season, adding to a side that finished just behind ourselves in 7th place during a first UCL campaign. Recently coming in at Robingoodfellows Lane are the experienced Josh Moreman, Dan Bucciero and Declan Rogers, with Matt Foy and Jack Withers also signing on for Ash Taylor and Seb Hayes’ side. They will look to fill the void left from the departed Jack Friend who joined Fenland neighbours Ely City.

On the opening day March hosted a much changed, yet still very capable Newport Pagnell side in-front of 330 supporters at The GER Ground. A strike from Josh Moreman beat the visiting goalkeeper at the near post 7 minutes before half time, providing the only goal of the game. The home side held on despite having goalkeeper Jonah Gill dismissed for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. However, the resulting penalty was put wide of the mark by Pagnell’s Jack Bowen.

Meanwhile, at Aylestone Park Lance Key’s Stutes came unstuck by the league newcomers, despite going two goals ahead within the opening 20 minutes. Goals from Dan Brown and Ryan Towner ultimately proved in vain as the hosts collected their first 3 points as a Step 5 side. Concerningly, Danny Gould was withdrawn at half time and Ryan Towner was forced off toward the end of the game. Gould is not set to feature, and it remains to be seen whether he Towner will be fit to take to the pitch. The injury list grows, with Rob Ruddy and Luke Crisp also still sidelined. On a positive note, Luke Lindsay and Sam Roach are available for selection, as is skipper Olly Brookes who served his one game suspension on Saturday

Turnstiles will be open from 6.15 with the club bar providing liquid refreshment, along with both Sky and BT Sports being shown on the big screens throughout the evening. Staff in our catering outlet shall also be on hand to provide hot and cold food and drink for supporters.

Tickets continue to be available both at the turnstile (cash or card) and online to pre-purchase.
