United Counties League, Premier Division South

HISTON v GNG Oadby Town

Kick Off 3pm

The Stutes return to league action on Saturday, as GNG Oadby Town pay a visit to Bridge Road. Following a midweek FA Cup exit Lance Key’s side turn their attention toward winning a vital three points, having also returned empty handed from their opening two league clashes.

Key will be buoyed by the fact that he should be able to call upon experienced defender Rob Ruddy who has not seen the field since pre-season due to injury. The influential Ed Rolph is also likely to feature having also been sidelined since for a few weeks. Luke Crisp remain on the injury list, with Bubba Camara and Marcus Cole unavailable for the tie.

Our visitors from Leicestershire, GNG Oadby Town have a win sandwiched between two losses in competitive action thus far. On the opening day they were convincing beaten by Godmanchester Rovers 1-5 on their own patch, before collected a narrow 0-1 victory on the road at Desborough Town. Their last outing proved end in disappointment as Northern Counties East League side, Bottesford Town knocked Town out of the FA Cup in Leicestershire by a margin of 3 goals to 1.

The sides last met back on March 4th of this year, when The Stutes dominated a game in which the scored four unanswered goals. Dan Brown opened the scoring with a first half brace, before goals from Bubba Camara and Ryan Towner finished the job off, sending the visiting fans home happy with the side extending their unbeaten run to 8 games.

Just two weeks prior Bridge Road hosted a game in which Lance Key’s side again found the Oadby net on 4 occasions. Despite having a glorious opportunity one-on-one in the opening minutes, the visitors conceded the opener via an unfortunate own goal after just 10 minutes. A Charlie Tunell corner was headed over and beyond the despairing goalkeeper. That was how the scoring remained until the 56th minute as Ryan Towner netted a quickfire brace with two goals in 4 minutes. Connor Barnes struck home just after the hour mark, whilst Dan Brown rounded the scoring off in the 86 minute as the Stutes won 5-0.

With the visitors having to make two enforced first half changes in their cup tie a week ago, it remains to be seen whether they will be able to field a full strength side. Last seasons joint top scorer Ryan Robbins appears to have left the club, whilst Mussa Bham who also scored 15 times has yet to register this term.

The club bar and catering outlet will be open throughout to cater to your needs. Turnstiles open at 1:30 with supporters invited to stay behind post-match and mingle with players, staff and officials from both sides.

Tickets continue to be available both online and at the turnstile, with both cash and card being accepted.
