Histon FC is pleased to announce the launch of a new partnership between the football club and the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity (ARHC). As a club representing our local community, it is an honour for us to be able to work with ARHC and to help support the charity in the work it carries out across Cambridgeshire.
Many of our supporters may be familiar with the support ARHC provides to those living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. Through our partnership, we hope to be able to highlight the services the charity provides and to raise awareness of the level of support it needs in order to serve those in need of their care across the county.
On the launch of the partnership, Jodie Vaughan, the Income Generation & Communications Director at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, says;
“We are very grateful to Histon FC; players, staff, and fans, for showing their support for our charity alongside the local business who generously gifted us the use of their promotional space at the grounds. We are delighted to partner with local organisations across our community to raise awareness of our services and the funds we need to keep them going. This generous support from the club will help us continue the work we do across Cambridgeshire to support people living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end of life care. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who gets involved and the best of luck to Histon FC for the season!”
On behalf Histon FC, club Director Paul Smart said about the partnership, “Through the generosity of a very kind sponsor, we are delighted to support this important charity, which has and continues to provide such wonderful care and support to our community. We look forward to raising much needed funds for the Arthur Rank Hospice over the next 18 months or so.”
Histon supporters and other visitors to Bridge Road will notice the advertising in place on our dugout roofs and various posters around the ground in support of our partnership. We are pleased to say that representatives of ARHC will be our special guests at Bridge Road for our match against Oadby Town on 5th April, when we will also be raising funds on behalf of the charity.

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity’s ‘Outstanding’ services are provided free of charge to patients and their families. Their aim is to provide the highest quality care, helping people to make every moment count. Around 3,600 patients each year are cared for at the Hospice in Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Centre in Wisbech and in patients’ own homes via the Arthur Rank Community Team. This care supports people to improve their quality of life and fulfil their end of their life choices.
It will cost over £13 million to run ARHC services in 2024/2025. Contracted services from the NHS are budgeted at £7.9 million. With the help of the community, they need to raise a further £5.1 million through donations, fundraising activities, retail sales, the Education and Conference Centre and Bistro. If the charity fails to meet this target the difference will, reluctantly, have to be taken from their limited reserves. Sustaining services for people in our community is the charity’s focus and it is therefore extremely grateful to everyone who demonstrates their dedication, commitment and generosity and helps protect its reserves for the future.
