Histon FC is delighted to welcome Danny Gould back to Bridge Road after he signed the necessary registration papers to play for the club again earlier this week. Danny had been without a club this season, but despite receiving offers to play elsewhere, he accepted the invitation from manager Chris Nunn to return to the club he first represented almost ten years ago.
Danny is a product of the Histon FC youth system and made his First team debut during the 2015/16 season. He soon became a regular in the side and a fans’ favourite due to his speed, skill on the ball and ability to score spectacular goals from distance. He was also a key member of the celebrated Histon side that won the Eastern Counties League Championship in 2018/19.
Danny joined his local side Grays Athletic at the start of the 2020/21 season but was back at Histon by December 2021. He missed the 2022/23 season due to injury, resuming his Histon career the following year but injuries again restricted his appearances. He was at Step 4 side Grays Athletic again last season where he made fifteen appearances and scored two goals.
Danny has so far made a total of 237 appearances for the Stutes and has 34 goals to his name. Despite having his roots in Essex, he has always been regarded as one of our own and, along with his father Kevin, has been a regular visitor to Bridge Road even when playing elsewhere. He has spent the first two months of this season recovering from another injury but is expected to join the squad in a week or two once his fitness is restored.
Welcome back Danny!
