Histon 6 Biggleswade Town 0
EJA U15 League Cup
Sunday 8th October 2017
Back to winning ways! Histon started the game with a bang, drawing a very early save from the keeper with the resulting corner going just wide. However, ten minutes into the game, Histon got caught at the back and gave a penalty away. The penalty was not hit with conviction and fortunately for Histon went wide of the goal. Histon were again pressing and attacking well, drawing saves from the keeper. Ollie Wills had the ball in the net after 20 minutes only for it to be ruled out for offside. Histon kept the attacking moves going and every time they managed to pass and move quickly they looked dangerous. One such move down the right resulted in the 1:0 lead for Histon from Will Bruning. The keeper did not manage to clear fully and the ball rolled into the goal. Histon’s second followed shortly afterwards, again a move down the right, cross into the box and Ollie Ward sent the ball into the top right corner.
Histon’s first attack after the break brought the third goal. Again, a good quick move down the right gave Mark the opportunity to slot home. Biggleswade tried to rally and had a chance from a goalmouth scramble but Histon managed to clear. Yet another quick move with good and accurate passing resulted in Ollie Ward being able to finish for 4:0. Will added another one shortly afterwards from a long ball forward. He added Histon’s 6th (and completed his hat-trick) soon after yet another good move and an unselfish pass from Ollie Ward to Will for a tap in. Ollie Ward kept trying to complete his own hat-trick and had a few chances to do so with the closest hitting the crossbar.
Overall a very good Histon performance. Some of the passing and movement was excellent and minor lapses of concentration were rectified through good energy, cover and teamwork and Biggleswade’s keeper made a number of good saves to prevent a higher Histon score.
