We can today confirm that skipper Max York has left the club and won’t be with us for the forthcoming season.

The Skipper has been with us for many years both as a Scholar and then on into the First Team with 220 appearances and 46 goals in his Histon career. Whilst everyone here is sorry to see him go he does so with our thanks and lots of great memories. Who will forget the 27 goals he scored from centre-half in our Championship winning 2018/19 season or his last gasp winner in the derby against Cambridge City on Boxing Day 2019!

The Gaffer had this to say about his departing Captain:

“Losing Max is a huge blow of course. He’s has been an excellent performer and leads by example and his 27 goals in our championship winning season will probably never be beaten by a centre half anywhere! He leaves with our best wishes and hope that he can have as much success elsewhere. The reasons are, as with many of the others, more travelling, the possibility of long trips for Tuesday night away games and, more importantly of course, a little son on the way! Along with all the others in Zukes, Jimmy, Phil, Buster, Browny, Swints and the possibility of losing Lewis Mair to University it just shows what impact a decision which is out of your hands can have on your team.

But what this does give me personally though is more appetite to challenge ourselves within a new league. Obviously we’re trying to recruit
more players and we are all working hard on that front and will let you know our progress throughout.”

Onwards and upwards

Up The Stutes!
