YAXLEY v HISTON
Pitching In Northern Premier League Midlands Division
Saturday 29th January 2022
Kick off @ 3.00pm

We head to In2itive Park to take on Yaxley tomorrow as we get back into league action after our midweek Invitation Cup exit against Ely City at The Bridge on Tuesday night.

The Cuckoos took all three points when we last met, that was at The Bridge back in October and since then their impressive form saw them drag themselves up the table to a comfortable 13th place. They have suffered recently though at the hands of Chasetown and Halesowen Town and will be looking to get back to winning ways at our expense.

Lance was able to start the returning Max York on Tuesday night along with Evan Key who made his first start since 2nd October and Lee Smith, who made his first start of the season. There were minutes as well for Bernat Burguera who was also making a return from a long injury lay-off and started for the first time since August. These were all signs of a squad returning to fitness and will have given the Gaffer some optimism as we get back to league action and the battle for vital points. However, on the negative side Ediz Greengrass and Bahador Chizari both picked up injuries that will keep them out for some time and lead to us playing the last half an hour on Tuesday a man down.

One player missing on Tuesday night was of course Danny Gould, who suffered a nasty knee injury in the first few minutes against Chasetown last Saturday. Zukes was at the game on Tuesday though to support the team and the injury, thankfully, is not as bad as first feared. He is however facing several weeks on the sidelines and we are all looking forward to seeing him back on the pitch as soon as possible.
