Thurlow Nunn ECL Premier Division
Tuesday 2nd April 2019
Kick Off @ 7:45pm
We go to Wroxham tonight knowing that victory will put us over the line and seal a first league title in 12 years. Saturday’s results mean that we are now just 2 points away from achieving our primary goal for the season and Lance and the squad will be going all out to get the result needed tonight.
Skipper Max York’s double on Saturday against Great Yarmouth sees him at the top of the league’s goal scoring list alongside Thetford Town’s Valter Rocha with 26 goals, a remarkable achievement for our Captain who is after all, a centre half. Striker Dan Brown is just 2 behind on 24 and Ed Rolph on 19 but the team as a whole have been tremendous this season as a group and nobody will be worrying about who scored if we can get the job done tonight.
Our last visit to the Yachtsmen’s Trafford Park ground came on the opening day of last season and the sides shared the points in a 0-0 draw. At The Glassworld Stadium in September things went much better for us with Ed Rolph grabbing a hat-trick, Dan Brown also on target and Max York with a late penalty giving us a 5-0 win.
Our hosts lie 7th in the table currently and with Sonny Carey and Nathan Stewart both averaging a goal every other game will pose a threat in front of goal. Their defensive record at Trafford Park this season has been good too with only 16 conceded from 16 games so far.
Lance hopes to have a full squad to pick from this evening with Dan Brown recovered from illness and Lee Smith available again. The only question mark is over Salim Relizani who is still recovering from a knock picked up at Kirkley & Pakefield last Tuesday.
Kick off is at 7.45pm and we hope to have a sizeable travelling support with us to cheer the lads on.
