Thurlow Nunn ECL Premier Division
Saturday 8th December 2018
Kick Off @ 3:00pm
Tomorrow’s game sees us travel to Kirkley & Pakefield as we get back to league action after making progress in the FA Vase last weekend.
Last season there was nothing to seperate the two sides with a 2-2 draw at The Glassworld in August (courtesy of two Lee Smith goals) followed by a 0-0 draw at Walmer Road in March. This year The Royals are on a fine run of form and are well placed in the table just five points behind us and fifth in the standings. Their only defeat in the last 8 league games came at Walmer Road two weeks ago when Godmanchester Rovers won 2-1 but they bounced back to winning ways with a comprehensive 3-0 win at Brantham last weekend. Kaiden Goldspink and Liam Harvey-Cooper have nearly 20 goals between them so far although the latter has missed the last few games through injury, and tomorrow will be a tough test for the boys.
Lance was delighted with last week’s performance against Leverstock Green in the Vase and was particularly pleased that the squad coped very well with a number of players missing or carrying knocks. Evan Key returns tomorrow after being suspended against Leverstock as does Lewis McDonald who is also returning from injury. Andy Ballester is in contention after his dash from the airport last weekend meant he was able to make a half hour appearance from the bench after being away for a couple of weeks and Joe Sutton returned from his loan at Mildenhall to also make an appearance from the bench. Lance reports that there are still a few knocks and niggles within the squad but that overall things are improving and he expects to have more selection decisions to make tomorrow than he has had in recent weeks.
Driving time from The Glassworld Stadium approx: 1 hour 45 mins (83 miles)
