Tomorrow we welcome AFC Stamford to The Bridge, our next opponents in a tough November run that will also see us host league leaders Halesowen Town next Saturday.
The Daniels are well placed in 7th at the moment but with a game in hand over all the clubs above them are eyeing up a push into the play-off places at least. Last weekend’s 5-0 demolition of Wisbech Town followed hot on the heels of a 6-1 mauling of Belper Town so it’s probably fair to say that they are in decent form at the moment.
For us, the two week break at the end of October has maybe marked a turning point in our season. A battling and determined performance last Saturday at second-placed Carlton Town brought a run of defeats to an end along with some hope to Stutes supporters. Lance has at last been able to start welcoming some of his senior players back into the fold with Lee Smith getting more minutes into his legs last week and Sam Collison returning to the line-up in impressive fashion at the back. With new signing Ryan Towner also impressing last week and Pat Bexfield’s influence clear to see the Stutes looked a different team to earlier in the season. Andy Ballester, Evan Key, Bernat Burguera and Manu Ramirez are all getting close to returning, and with Charlie Lewis expected back in a few weeks Lance’s selection options may soon start to present him with a few tricky decisions to make.
Tomorrow’s visitors will have their own plans of course, plans which don’t include letting Histon get three points on the board and it will be another tough test for our side. This promises to be a decent game with two teams who need the points going at each other.
As previously announced, we are pleased to offer free entry to Bridge Road to all current and former members of the armed services for this match. The local British Legion will also be conducting a short Remembrance parade to honour those who fell in two World Wars and other conflicts in service of their country.
