United Counties League, Premier Division South

HISTON v Desborough Town

Kick Off 2pm

For the third time this season we will face Desborough Town, having already played two FA Cup fixtures against ‘Ar Tarn’. A goalless draw was played out at The Waterworks back on August 6th, before a 4 nil victory was forthcoming in the replay for The Stutes, thanks to goals from Luke Crisp, Ryan Towner and a late double from Luke Lindsay.

Since that evening results have been mixed for Jim Le Masurier and his side, with the most notable league victories coming against 6th placed March Town United (2-0) back on September 3rd, whilst just last week a 3-0 victory was earned over 9th placed Easington Sports. That victory was the first in 4 games for ‘Ar Tarn’ and sets them up nicely for this clash at Bridge Road. Just one victory has claimed on the road this season, that coming at bottom side Long Buckby (3-1) on October 29th

Within their armour Desborough have striker Ian Blaikie, who had been responsible for 10 of their 23 league goals, with Luca Miller having also had input in the final third with 5 goals to his name. Lance Key’s side will be hoping to keep the two of them, and indeed the rest of their side at bay, as they have done so in our previous two encounters.

The Stutes picked up an important three points on the road last week, beating a Coventry United side that had won it’s last five games. They had to make do without skipper Ollie Brookes who missed out with a groin issue, on top of the absence of Dan Brown. It is hoped that both of these experienced players may well play some part this week. Both Luke Crisp, and Luke Lindsay also limped off with injuries a week ago, with Lindsay set to be on the sidelines for a period. The manager may look to continue with Ben Hurrion in attack, as the 16 year old debutant turned in an impressive performance, whilst Mar-Lee Fisher will be in contention having performed well in recent Reserve and Youth Team fixtures.

A reminder that Kick Off is set for 2pm, with collections of mince pies and biscuits once again being sought from supporters to be delivered by to local care and emergency facilities over the festive period
