A tightly fought game in hot conditions ended with a 92nd minute winner after Wymondham finally found a way through the Histon defence.

Hannah Gordon had two chances for the home side from left of goal early on, her 11th minute volley going well off target and her effort after Katie Seagrave’s square ball two minutes later was scooped over the bar.

Seagrave volleyed over with 36 minutes gone, a bad backpass a minute later giving Charlotte Westrope a chance after the goalkeeper kicked it to her, but her effort went straight back to the same opponent.

On the stroke of half time Sophie Lanham’s free kick from the edge of D was off target.

Wymondham’s best effort of the first half coming when they fired over after 28 minutes.

After the break both sides started to feel the temperature, the pace of the game slowing but with each of the teams looking to break the deadlock.

Home ‘keeper Keeley Robinson was finally beaten in the 71st minute, the foot of the near left post coming to the rescue for the hosts, their hearts being broken in added time when a ball through left two defenders just behind the back line and in on Robinson; she came out but the ball was lifted past her and bounced into the roof of the net just ahead of the retreating defenders.
